The BMW PGA Championship, being contested this week at Wentworth Club in England, is the European Tour’s flagship event. Lee Westwood, ranked No. 1 in the world, has made a point recently of calling it golf’s “fifth major.” That’s a pointed reference to the PGA Tour’s flagship event, the Players Championship, the tournament most often given that moniker, The Wall Street Journal reported Saturday.

Ryder Cup duo Paul Casey of England and Sweden’s Peter Hanson shared a one shot lead at 16 under par after the penultimate round of the European Tour’s inaugural 1.7 million euro Volvo Golf Champions here on Saturday.
