Golfers could soon light up a smoke on city courses

Smoking is expected to return to Austin golf courses after a city council vote Thursday. The city banned smoking at all public parks this past summer because of fire danger.

Cypress Creek Golfers Club is a public golf course located in Smithfield, Virginia. It is one of the few golf courses designed by Curtis Strange (a native of Virginia), and features an interesting setup that appeals to a wide range of golfers.

Modesto golfers suggested Monday that the city’s golf courses are running big deficits because golfers are bypassing Modesto to take advantage of bargains in Manteca and even the privately operated greens at Diablo Grande.
