The golfers at Plantation Golf Club in Leesburg did something that happens once every 260,000 days. LEESBURG — Merlyn Wilson lost his clubs in a fire at Burning Oak Golf Course in Roscommon, Mich., this month.

Charlotte’s push to build a new domestic violence shelter hit the links Tuesday. The shelter built in 1972 created 25 beds for women. Since then, only four have been added. United Family Services is working to raise millions of dollars to build an 80-bed facility. Tuesday, golfers helped out by playing a marathon 100 holes.
