UC Riverside’s women’s golf team jumped out to the first-day lead Monday in the Lamkin Grip Cal Poly Tournament in San Luis Obispo. Amelia Ek shot a 72 and Denyse Neville carded a 73 to hold the two top spots in the 17-team tournament at Cypress Ridge Golf Course that concludes today. Their efforts helped UCR shoot a 304 and take a 6-shot lead over second-place Northern Arizona.

Things are looking good for the Council Rock North golf team at the PIAA state tournament in York. The Indians are leading in the team competition after the first of two days with 308 strokes and Brandon Dalinka is in second place after shooting a even-par 71 Monday at Heritage Hills Golf Club. J.D. Dornes of Manheim Township leads with a 1-under-par 70.
